Facebook Status of the Day

בזמן שאלה רצו מסיבת רחוב בבני ברק בשבת, חרדים מבני ברק יעבדו בהריסות החניון בתל אביב בתקווה להציל חיים.

Melech Zilbershlag, who starred in a video last week scoffing at the secular who were planning on holding a street party in Bnei Braq on Shabbos, posted to Facebook shortly before Shabbos the above in which he says that "while some want a street party in Bnei Braq on Shabbos, Haredim from Bnei Braq are going to be working on Shabbos to break down the collapsed parking lot in Tel Aviv to try to save lives. And that is the entire story"
while the Haredi participation (I think via ZAKA in this case) is a big mitzva, an act of chessed and to be praised, I do not think it is an "either/or" situation. Meaning, there are also secular people working hard to try to save lives at the parking lot in Tel Aviv. And there are also Haredim in Bnei Braq (and elsewhere) eating kugel.

By the way, after Minister Aryeh Deri "capitulated" and said he won't be forcing closed markets and shops in Tel Aviv on Shabbos and the secular need to decide for themselves what type of Shabbos they want, the organizers declared victory and canceled the street party they were planning..

  1. Religious 'parties' have nothing to do with yirat Shamayim and doing the right thing because all they are, are just 'politicians'. What a disgrace, but it's the truth.
