What do we care? We did what they wanted, in order to avoid conflict, for better or for worse, and now who cares what they do? They want to pray, fine, they don't want to pray, that is their business. Why are we so nervous about them saying they still won't go up? As far as I am concerned, the longer they stay off the better - every moment they are on Har Habayit, praying or not, is a chilul hashem. Every moment they stay off is another moment of less chilul hashem.

ReplyDeleteThe problem isn't whether they pray there or not, the problem is how they spin it - The Palestinian leadership is deliberately using the fact that they are not praying on Har habayit to incite violence and potentially start what could be a long and bloody way.
ReplyDeleteThey have been making false claims that Jews are denying them access to har Habayit, and to prove it they have been distributing pictures of Muslim's praying on the streets next to har Habayit.
In response they called for a Day of Rage, which predictably lead to deaths (at least one demonstrator seems to have died while his petrol bomb exploded in his hand before he had a chance to throw it)
They now are making the (false) claims that not only is the occupation denying them access to har habayit (with pictures to prove it), but that the occupation is murdering non-violent protesters, with pictures of large funerals and crying mothers, next to pictures of Muslims non-violently praying outside the Temple Mount.
Next stage will be UN Condemnations of Israel (of Course, but who cares), and a call to show support for the oppressed Palestinians in other Muslim areas (Jordan and Turkey have already signed on to the Palestinian Narrative about the change in status quo)
Next we will see another intifada throughout Yehuda / Shomoron, and thing heating up on the borders with gaza, lebanon, and syria.
Last time they launched an "Al Aksa Intifada" based completely on falso information, the Intifada took years to control, and cost thousands of deaths.
We have a real interest in de-escalating the situation before it spirals further out of control. Problem is looks like the Pals want an escalation, so no matter what we do they will use it to stoke the fires.... looks like it's going to be a hot summer.
