a fair day's wage for a fair day's work

as they say, a fair day's wage for a fair day's work...

for those that do not understand the ad, a large family blessed with children is looking for a volunteer to come once a week and help with light housework, and in the merit of the mitzva done, the volunteer will merit having a large family with many children of her own...

  1. That would make an interesting employment contract. Imagine Beit Din hearing a case of suing for damages for the bracha not coming true.

  2. interesting, but it isnt a promise, just a wish or a blessing, and the ad clearly says "volunteer", so no guarantee is included...

  3. You are right. I skipped a word when translating. Pirkei Avot teaches us to be careful because we don't know the difference in reward between a 'small' mitvah and a big' mitzvah. I always find it interesting when people are able to promise rewards from things they benefit from.

Then again what do I know. I gave up my Olam Habah by not voting for the party that tried to rig the first round of the last Beit Shemesh election.
