  1. I don't understand the big deal.

    We all know that the chasidim won't buy a magazine with pictures of women; and the Hebrew Mishpacha, along with just about all charedi publications, have made the business decision not to publish pictures of women in order to be able to sell magazines to that demographic. Though it's probably true that as a result many other charedim became convinced that not publishing women is the norm, and will follow chasidim now.

    English Mishpacha is the exception as they are testing the waters. And in essence what Besser is claiming is that this picture did not signify a movement one way or the other in that area, but rather came from a decision of someone low on the totem pole who didn't realize the significance of it.
