The new embassy is a new settlement outpost, just like the Israeli settlements, and is an assault on our sovereignty, an assault on our established rights
-- PA President Mahmoud Abbas

All right, where do we start?
ReplyDeleteI might as well be the first here. We already know the sentiments of this man.
This will be why we can't negotiate with Abbas. I don't care whether Trump and the rest of the world insist on sitting down with him; we shouldn't waste our time even talking about it. Abbas believes that even the pre-1967 lands are "Palestinian." So to him, there is nothing to talk about; the Jews must vacate "Palestinian" lands, that's it.
Well, if that's the case, if he can't accept that there is no going back after 70 years, forget about any negotiations. Don't even propose them or suggest concessions Israel would have to do--even if Trump suggested that Israel would pay something for moving the embassy. Forget about the world demanding that the "two-state solution" or "the ultimate deal" must be pursued. I have had it with the threats that if Israel doesn't negotiate a two-state settlement, Israel is threatening its character, there will be war or an intifada, etc., etc., etc.
I say let the world fulminate at Israel not doing its bidding. Maybe Israel is correct.
