Pay For Slay law finally passed

The Knesset yesterday finally passed the "pay for slay" law it has been talking about for a long time. That is, if the Palestinians continue to pay money to terrorists for their acts of terror, the PA tax monies held by Israel that are meant to be transferred to the Palestinians on a regular basis will be frozen.

Part of the debate around the bill was whether to freeze the payments or to deduct them from the tax monies. Another aspect under discussion was a proposal by the PM to include a clause that would allow the Security Cabinet to make an executive decision allowing the transfer of frozen monies of it is deemed necessary and no money had been paid to terrorists during that calendar year.

MK Elazar Stern (Yesh Atid) was behind the law, and it had support across the benches, not including the Arab MKs. This is the Israeli version of the Taylor Force Act that was recently passed in the USA.

  1. Shame we could only pass such a law after America set the example.
