The Autonomy wins prestigious international award

The new Israeli television series "Autonomy" produced by HOT has won an international award as best television series.

Autonomy was a show that starred Shuli Rand, Rotem Sela and Asi Cohen, and it depicted a post-civil war scenario in which the State of Israel and the Haredi community had split into a "two state solution" of sorts with a Haredi state called "The Autonomy" based in Jerusalem existed alongside the secular State of Israel. The series revolved around a child that was discovered to have been switched at birth and raised by parents in Israel but eventually discovered to have actually been birthed by parents from the autonomous Haredi state. The series depicted the friction between the two families, the attempt to get the girl back, and a debate within the leadership of the autonomous state as to whether  or not to merge back into the State of Israel or to remain autonomous.

At the International Film Festival in Geneva, "The Autonomy" was selected as the best television series, beating out other top shows from around the world.

Kol Hakavod for another big Israeli victory on the international stage. Besides for doing a great professional job in the development and production of the show, the public, in Israel and clearly outside of Israel, continues to have a keen interest in the depiction of the religious and Haredi communities in Israel. The Haredi community especially continues to be a big draw on television, after big award winning hits such as Shababnikim, Shtissel. Before that there was Srugim, based on the Dati Leumi community.

It definitely brings new meaning to the phrase "Ki Mi'Tzion Teitzei Torah"...

Here is the first episode of The Autonomy from Youtube.. The rest of the 6 part series is not available on Youtube but can only be watched via HOT channels.
