Tweet of the Day

MK Yair Lapid tweeted:
I just said on the radio what you all know. If Lieberman goes into the government he will need to compromise on the pensions and the Russian community will again not get anything. If he waits a few months he will get our 55 sure votes in order to increase the pensions to the size he promised. Together with him, we will have 61 votes. A definite majority.

Lapid put this up on Twitter this morning and became an immediate laughing stock, once again. This time, his math is off. Lieberman's 5 seats, plus Lapid's 55 (which are also not definite and he does not explain where he gets 55 from), is only 60 - not quite a definite majority of at least 61, yet in his tweet he says you (5) with our 55 is 61.

Lapid did not respond to most of the challenges and comments to his tweet, but he did respond to one, that of journalist Amit Segal. Lapid's response was "guess who my 61st vote is". So he might, or might not, have a secret supporter from another party who would not be in his coalition that would turn it to 61, but his tweet was about 55 + 5 being 61. Anyways, it is highly unlikely he would have 55 as the haredim wont join his coalition (almost definitely not), the Arabs would almost definitely not join, and the Likud would almost definitely not join.
