Lieberman is still insistent on only supporting Netanyahu and the Right Wing coalition, even after bringing down the coalition negotiations that led to Netanyahu's dispersal of the Knesset and new elections. Today he even said, about the suggestion of joining a Gantz-led coalition, that the only way Kachol Lavan will form a coalition is with the polar bears in the North Pole.
Lieberman is now saying that he is the only one who will put a stop to the craziness of a Haredi coalition of turning the Right Wing Bloc to a Haredi bloc, and only he will ensure that a nationalist right wing liberal government will be established.
Lieberman said that Netanyahu's top 5 in the government are Litzman, Gafni, Deri, Smotritch and Ben Gvir - without Avigdor Lieberman and without Yisrael Beyteynu. Netanyahu has said so openly. Had the United RIght achieved two more seats and had 7 instead of 5, they would have had a coalition of 62 with Orit Struk, Ben Gvir, Smotritch, Litzman, Deri and Gafni. The only thing that prevented such a crazy coalition from being formed was Yisrael Beyteynu.
That is all nice and dandy, and perhaps he is saying it just for election purposes, to pull in the right wing secular vote, drumming up some anti-religious sentiment. But what is his end-game? What coalition does he offer as an alternative? If he will only support Netanyahu and the Likud, does he propose any way for a Likud-led coalition that Yisrael Beyteynu will join but the Haredi parties and the United Right parties wont join or fight for their interests if they do join? Does Netanyahu have any way to form a government coalition with Yisrael Beyteynu in and the religious/haredi parties out or not getting what they want/need? Is he hoping for a unity government but only led by Netanyahu? Does he not realize that unity governments generally have a rotation at the helm?
What does Lieberman expect to happen? What options does he see with the way he is positioning himself? I just don't understand what he is suddenly trying to do.
