    I've heard that before, and it's ridiculous. If there are two options, and there are good arguments for there always being (at least) two options, then it's logical to do what is needed to ensure this.

    Israel has a couple dozen parties, most on the fringe. They are on the fringe for a reason, and there's no reason to ensure that each and every one continues to be viable.
