Quote of the Day

If we won't have any other option we will leave the coalition of Aliza Bloch. the Haredim were in Bet Shemesh before the Chilonim

-- MK Moshe Gafni (UTJ), regarding the ongoing struggle of the Haredi community to be granted plots and buildings in the Bar Ilan neighborhood for their schools and shuls

1. that is either rewriting history or not knowing what world he is living in. the Haredi community was in Bet Shemesh before the chilonim?
2. what is the relevance as to who was there first? either they deserve it or they do not deserve it based on current circumstances. I would note that Abutbol didn't give them what they wanted either. I do not know what they deserve or do not deserve and am offering no opinion on that, but I dont see the relevance of whether haredim were in the city first or second
3. whether haredim were there first or last in Bet Shemesh there is no dispute that in this specific neighborhood it was "secular" until the past several years when haredim started moving into it

  1. First with (Muslim) Arabs, now with Haredim... is there something about religious fundamentalism that makes these people attempt to claim that once they move into an area that they were always there?
