surprise! Ministry of Economy discovers which store is more expensive

Globes is reporting on a study conducted by the Ministry of Economy and Industry, comparing the prices of furniture sold at IKEA to the prices of similar furniture sold at other shops like Home Center and Ace.

After what was surely some intensive research, perhaps years of data analysis and number crunching, the study has concluded two major points:
1. furniture sold at IKEA is more expensive than similar products sold in the other shops.
2. furniture sold in IKEA Israel is more expensive than the same items sold in IKEA in almost every other country in the world

The real conclusion by the Ministry is that it is actually difficult to compare the prices of such items because there are many factors and cabinets in IKEA are not the same as those in Ace, so any comparison is not exactly accurate. It is always important to compare apples with apples, not oranges.

Good job, ministry. You did research to discover information every Israeli already knows. And then you said the research is basically worthless because the items compared are not really the same.

The response of IKEA was particularly noteworthy. The response released is "We are proud of the quality, great variety, responsibility, and the best value that we are giving to the Israeli consumer."

good answer, IKEA, good answer.

Instead of checking which stores are more expensive and which are less, information already known by most consumers, maybe find ways to lower taxes on imports and other ways to make businesses be able to be profitable with lower prices to benefit the consumer.
