Rav Elchanan Printz, rav in Yeshivat Birkat Moshe of Maaleh Adumim, was asked about dressing up as a Corona patient.
Rav Printz paskened that it is not a problem of "al tiftach peh lsatan", not opening a door for Satan - just as using makeup to appear injured and scarred is not a problem (he references a different psak in which he already explained why this is so). However, one should be careful not to wear a costume that can cause people to be afraid, and if this will not be understood as a costume and people will be afraid one should not do so.
Rav Printz explains that on Purim people should not dress up in frightening costumes, as while scaring people might not bear a worldly punishment, one would be liable in Heaven for this. Rav Printz referenced numerous sources for this. Rav Printz adds that with Purim being compared to Yom Kippur, one should behave on Purim as on a holy day, and not in a way that causes pain and damage to others.
