-- MK Yisrael Eichler (UTJ), during the big public transportation on Shabbos debate in Knesset today.
Funnily enough, MK Suva (Yisrael beyteynu) proposed during the debate that there should even be public transpiration on Shabbos to the Kotel.

It is true that small businesses and buses running on Shabbat has a far bigger impact on the traditional segment of society than the religious. Religious Jews will not work on Shabbat no matter how much they are offered, however there are many traditional Jews in Blue color jobs, or bus drivers, or employed in small businesses who would prefer to spend Shabbat with their family, but financially cannot keep their job if they refuse to work on Shabbat.
ReplyDeleteIt should not be the religious parties fighting for the welfare of these blue-color workers, it should be Labour (but don't hold your breath for Labour to lobby against buses or small businesses on Shabbat)
