Sofer's suggesting is that to encourage people to get tested, Mifal HaPayis and the Ministry of Health should raffle off 10,000nis each and every day among all people who get tested for CoronaVirus that day. Mifal Hapayis has allocated 300,000nis per month for this project.
the program is being put together and is expected to begin within the coming weeks.
According to Channel 12 News, the officials are still debating whether to hold the raffle/lottery among all people who get tested any given day or only those tested in hot spots.
Personally I'll be happy to go get tested every single day to qualify for the raffle, if they open it up to everyone who gets tested and not just hotspots. I have already been tested twice (BH negative both times) and see no reason why not to.
I think the funding is coming largely from Mifal Hapayis, if not completely, but really they could use some of the money collected from all the fines for this as well. That would totally be a legitimate use.

To be tested every day, you need to quarantine every day until the results are received.
ReplyDeletenowadays the results usually come back pretty quickly, often within the same day, so it might not be such a big deal
ReplyDeleteDo you need to quarantine if you don't have any symptoms? Mass testing of asymptomatic people wouldn't work very well if you did have to quarantine.
