1. The Ministry of Health is recommending to ban all air travel except for essential needs. No travel for tourism or events.
I am not sure what that means. What is even considered essential for air travel? If I need to travel for work is that essential? To visit relatives? What about sick relatives?
And, how will they ensure the need is essential? Now when you are driving out of the city, if you even got stopped by a police officer and asked, you could just say you are going to get food, or to get medicine, or to deliver medicine to someone.. they can't get any control of essential needs. How are they going to have any control over people traveling out of the country claiming essential needs?
2. The discussion of a lockdown is for starting it on Friday. Minister Aryeh Deri at one point suggested they just start it right now. Immediately. Go to lockdown right away.
I happen to agree with Deri on this. We are already in a lockdown. All it needs is enforcement. Previously, when deciding on a lockdown, they said they have to give the public some notice so people can prepare for it. So they generally gave a couple days notice. This time it is moving from lockdown to lockdown. There shouldn't be any need to give notice of a coming lockdown, because we re already in a lockdown. officially you can't do anything now beyond essential needs anyway!
I find all the talk of going to another lockdown somewhat humorous, considering we are in a lockdown. Just enforce the current lockdown! I get that they are talking about going from the current loosely restricted lockdown to a tight lockdown with stricter rules, but it is funny to talk about that when it is not even the failure of the current lockdown, but lack of enforcement - if they initially thought a loose lockdown would help, why not give it a chance? Enforce the current lockdown and se eif it helps instead of jumping from lockdown to lockdown without any enforcement?
