I agree with Jeremy on this. The Palestinians should get vaccinated like every other country should ensure its citizens are vaccinated, but that is on them, not on us. After Israel finishes, if we have extra doses remaining, we can sell to them or to any other country. Or even give it for free.

She keeps talking about legal obligation, because in her mind the PA is not a factor and Yehuda and Shomron including Area A is still occupied. Jeremy is completely correct. They want self-government then with that comes responsibility to help your citizens, not whine that they are being getting handouts.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I understand, Israel was rebuffed by the PA saying that they can manage things themselves. Then they realized that they are losing a great PR opportunity to play their apartheid canard. So they whine that they are not getting help from Israel.
I don't understand this woman at all.
ReplyDeleteShe feels bad when she speaks to her friends in the PA that she had a jab, and they haven't yet. I feel the same way when I speak to family in the UK, Canada, the States or any other country - we are very fortunate in Israel that the government is running the most successful Vaccination campaign in the world.
Israel should and I assume will help the Palestinians and other countries in any way they an, and has already given practical advice how to run a vaccination campaign on this scale, but it is unreasonable to suggest that the Israeli government should prioritize non-citizens ruled by a different government before her own citizens.
The fact that Israel is doing better than any other country in the world should be a source of pride, not a source of guilt.
IY"H within the coming months the Palestinians will also get vaccinations and I am sure that Israel will help in any way possible, it is in our mutual interests to vaccinate them as soon as possible.
But to suggest that Israel is responsible for the day-to-day affairs of the Palestinian population is asking Israel to fully annex the territories. Personally I would be happy to see full annexation (including full citizenship for the Palestinians who want citizenship in the Jewish state), if that is her opinion, she should say so.
nice. I like how you turned it into annexation issue!
