most accidents happen five minutes from home

Studies have shown that most car accidents happen within five minutes, about a five mile radius, of the drivers home.

This poor guy, as reported in TOI, spent five years biking around the world, but was hit by a bus near the entrance to the kibbutz where he lives and is now in critical condition and fighting for his life. 

I hope he doesn't add to the statistics proving the above studies conclusions...
