funding street cats

I dont know what exactly this is for but it seems the new budget being passed is giving 12 million shekels to the street cats.

These vermin running around my porch and the garbage cans are getting more money than me!!!! And what are they even going to do with it - they dont even have thumbs!

I don't know what this is for. If this money is for the purpose of ridding Israel of the street cats, or at least a certain percentage of them, and spaying them, then it might be worth it. If it is to provide them with food and shelter, that is weird.

I guess when we need money we'll just go to the street cats to take a loan!

  2. Of course, if the allocation is to cut down the cat population then we also need to allocate to get rid of the rodent and snake populations that will surge (even if cats have become more interested in garbage than hunting rats and snakes).

    1. That's actually a myth, as proven by DNA studies of the local cats. The English didn't introduce the cats; for various reasons, there have always been a lot of stray cats in Israel. There will always be just enough cats to control pests.

  3. You should see what happened in Jerusalem. We actually have a deputy mayor in charge of stray cats, and hundreds of thousands of shekels that somehow disappeared on their way to buying food for them. They did put up fancy cat feeders around the city, though. (It was described as an act of justice when underground trash cans were installed.)
