Dangerous Dental Tourism

A group of a dozen Syrian Jews living in Brooklyn traveled to Syria to meet with the small Jewish community there. According to TOI, the visit had the support of the Syrian government, though an expected meeting with government officials did not take place.

The funny thing about this, according to the article, one of the goals of the trip was actually dental care. 

Dental tourism is very big. Many people travel to Israel for dental work, and other medical care, because it is so much cheaper than in the United States. Many people travel to other countries as well, with Turkey being a popular destination for dental tourism. Syria though? A war torn country? It must be pretty cheap there! I'd bet if they let us in, Israelis would flock there for dental work (or other things) and make them very rich....
