the irony of this tweet
#Polyanskiy: We're concerned over Tel Aviv’s announced plans for expanding settlement activity in the occupied #GolanHeights, which contradicts the provisions of the 1949 Geneva Convention. Russia doesn't recognize Israel's sovereignty over Golan Heights that are part of #Syria. pic.twitter.com/slHQSefJp5

Russia cracks me up, with their criticism of Israel on the Golan Heights at this time and sending in peacekeeping forces to the Ukraine, along with going in to "denazify" the Ukraine, despite Ukraine having both a Jewish President and a Jewish Prime Minister....... they know how to play the world...

Russia usually refers to "West Jerusalem" as the capital. "Tel Aviv" is probably a slap in the face for some reason.
ReplyDeleteUnless this is a regularly-scheduled thing, perhaps the whole thing is a slap, or perhaps it's a "Israel occupies territory too!" defense.
