MK Dudi Amsalem (Likud) has proposed a law that would cancel the "moral turpitude" clause - the kalon - that prevents politicians convicted of crimes bearing kalon to be barred form returning to politics for a period of 7 years.
Amsalem says that in the criminal world there are crimes and there are punishments. The criminal world needs to be clear, so the kalon should be canceled.
Honestly I do not understand what he means. Besides for not really understanding what he means about needing clarity in the criminal world, for certain crimes the kalon is part of the punishment, so I am not sure why he says kalon is antithetical to the clarity of the criminal system.
The law obviously has almost no chance of passing right now, and MK Benjamin Netanyahu says this is Amsalem's proposal alone and he has nothing to do with it and is not interested in it or in any such law regarding his court cases.

Again, I dont know what is going on exactly with the court case and if it looks bad or good for Netanyahu based on the various testimonies and evidence presented, but when the Likud comes up with these types of laws it indicates to me that things are not going great...
And additionally, has anyone yet honestly figured out what the word turpitude means?

Bibi's got his yes-men, like Amsalem and Biton and so on, and he has them do his dirty work. He's also a lot nicer to his yes-men than any real politician who could be a potential successor. Look what he did to Barkat, and Bennett, and Shaked, and...
