In recent elections over the past couple of years, MK Benjamin Netanyahu pressured his potential coalition partners to declare, and sometimes even to sign, loyalty pledges that they will only enter a coalition with him at the head of it and will not join a coalition led by anyone else.
Goldknopf today suggested that they are going to demand Netanyahu sign a similar loyalty pledge to them, to the Haredi parties, saying that he wont go into a coalition without them. Considering that he has done so before, such as in 2015 when he left the Haredi parties behind and formed a government without them despite their having supported him.

I think that is a brilliant idea. If a pledge is required, it should be required in both directions.

go for it. Pledges should go in both directions. Charedi parties have approximately 18-20 votes and they shouldnt be push overs.
ReplyDeleteOf course, sometimes the charedim sorta kinda forget to sign...
