Among a series of questions, Rav Edelstein was asked if it is appropriate to daven for good results of the upcoming elections.
Rav Edelstein responded that yes, one should daven for the elections, as many Torah institutions are dependent upon the results.
I dont see a big chiddush in that, as we daven for all sorts of physical and personal needs beyond just forgiveness and life/death. Also it is a long day in shul and there is plenty of time to focus on all sorts of things, including a few minutes for elections, if that is your thing.

note-not for a particular party but for a good result

to be fair, I added the paraphrase for a good result, as each person would daven for something different. he just said daven for the elections (according to the quote). Presumably in context, he was referring specifically to the success of UTJ and probably also somewhat for the Right wing bloc behind Netanyahu
DeleteI try to let HKBH decide what's the best result gct
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what this means
ReplyDeleteI think that it was the Chzon Ish who ruled that it was a Mitzva to vote in elections, when asked if it was a Miztvah like eat Matzah on Pessach, he replied that it was more a mitzva like eating marror.
