According to Walla News, a pregnant woman went for a routine visit in the Laniado Hospital in Netanya today. Today is not Pesach but the security guard at the entrance went through her bag and found a package of wafers and insisted she deposit the package at the door and can retrieve it on her way out as the hospital does not allow chametz inside. She complained in general but also because, as she said, in Netanya this hospital is the only choice - there is no other option.
To remind you, it is not yet Pesach. In addition, Gafni "sold" his chametz law (pun intended) explaining guards will not be going through people's bags, as the law only allows hospital administrators to dissuade visitors from bringing in chametz, but not to go through their bags. It is not even Pesach yet and that is being proven wrong.
This Pesach is looking like it will be contentious, all because of a bad law. I wonder if securty guards will even be looking for guns and knives at all this Pesach, or if the chametz will be too distracting. This reminds me of the iconic scene in Airplane II
Some people are opposed to the selling of chametz because it is a scam of sorts, not a real sale, deception. Looks like Gafni sells his chametz despite the deception involved.
