Quote of the Day

It's the public's fault for not voting for us

-- Chairman of Shas MK Aryeh Deri, lamenting the results of the elections that sees Shas dropping to 7 seats, and possibly to 6

well, yes, that is how elections work. The people choose which party to vote for and it is their fault they did not vote Shas. They question is why Shas potential voters chose not to vote Shas, and that is not the fault of the public (though it was their decision)

Some people think they own their public's decisions, and the public does not have a right to choose otherwise...

Remember the system he's working with.
The Gedolim(tm) told you to vote for us. You didn't so it's your fault we didn't get more seats.

  2. Then you have Benizri who said "We lost almost 50% of our seats. This is something that is truly traumatic, a shock and a tremendous blow to our entire community."

How is 50% of those who remained "loyal" the "entire" community.

There is a way to be a graceful way to be a sore loser. That's Ed Koch's "The people have spoken … and they must be punished". Years after the election, the New York mayor would repeat the quip when citizens complained to him about the policies of succeeding administrations.
(Perhaps Shas MKs said the same line quietly when they won!)

It's what I call the Rubashkin effect.
    His amazing rise to wealth?
    HaShem! His successful business? HaShem!
His suddenly fall from grave, multiple criminal charges and time in prison? Those nasty anti-Semites!
His sudden release from prison? HaShem!
