Even the police need a shmirah

The article to the left ran in today's newspaper...

It relates an incident in a police station of Kiryat Malachi.

The police in that station have felt that they have been having bad luck for a long time - things in general are no good, a number of commanders left early without completing their tenure, many policemen have fallen ill, a number of policemens' homes have been broken into, etc.

To change their fortune, they decided to have a rav come and change the mezuzahs in the station, and bless the station.

The [new] commander of the station responded that an officer who had been injured a couple of times wanted to change the mezuzah, so they allowed him to. But it was not a general thing of the whole station...

Sometimes, even the shmirah of the police is not enough, and even the police need the shmirah of the mezuzah...

  1. when i was in yeshivah right near kiryat malachi i tried to volunteer for the משמר האזרחי there. so it seems now in retrospect that it's a good thing it didn't work out.
