Meah Shearim, Palestine

If the PA has its way, and if Netanyahu does not stand strong on the issue of Jerusalem, the effect will not just be on neighborhoods of East Jerusalem like Sheikh Jarrah, but on neighborhoods like Meah Shearim as well.

Senior members of Fatah went to Meah Shearim to pay a condolence call to the family of Moshe Hirsch who had served as a minister in Yasser Arafat's government.

During the visit, Abed Al-Kadr, the Fatah man appointed over issues of Jerusalem, said, "This is the first time we are making an official visit in Meah Shearim, and from our perspective it is part of East Jerusalem that is meant to be the capital of the Palestinian State...[The Palestinians] have no intention of giving up its rights to Meah Shearim in negotiations with Israel, and we will also not give up our rights to the people of Neturei Karta.."

  3. It's about time that the Israeli public realise that NK compromise an almost 0% of Meah Shearim families. They are a handful of nutcases.

I seriously doubt that the majority of residents would be elated at living in the PA!
