Offending Jews, no problem - Project I.S.R.A.E.L.

While Comedy Central caved to pressure to not depict a character as Mohammed (even though the character was not going to be doing anything specifically bad) on a recent episode of South Park, despite their claims that they offend everyone equally, yet when it comes to Jews they have no problem - not just depicting characters but depicting them in truly offensive ways.

Comedy Central's website is running a game called "I.S.R.A.E.L. Attack" in which a robot named "I.S.R.A.E.L." kills children and animals. Along with that, the game opens with an offensive statement made by a character stating "You lied to me, Jew Producer"..

Calls are out for registering protest to have Comedy Central remove the content. If you are so inclined, fill out the form regarding Programming Questions on the Comedy Central website, select "Other" and state that this game is offensive and should be removed.

  2. I found this so unbelievable that I checked it out on the site and the game exists is called "I.S.R.A.E.L. Attack" and the term "Jew Producer" is indeed used in the opening sequence. Unbelievable.

  5. Rafi,

as a regular south park/comedy central watcher I can tell you that they try to offend everybody. The things I've seen them do to Jesus and krishna and many other gods and religions is hilarious precisely because they make fun of everybody equally, almost.

The creators of south park had a few episodes where they attempted to treat muhamad and Islam the same way they make fun of all the other religions. They even tried to deliver their episodes to the studio at the last possible moment to avoid executives cutting or bleeping those scenes. But the executives, due to death threats, and over the protests of south park creators, blocked those Islam offending scenes.

The protest should not be to stop making fun of jews, because then you should also want them to stop making fun of all religions. The protest should be for the executives of comedy central to treat Islam the same.

Comedy central has not treated Jews any worse then they treated every religion except Islam.

  6. good point, and I didnt express it as I didnt think it out like that, but I myself have not sent a protest because I didnt think it was such a big deal. I only wrote "if you are so inclined" because there is a protest movement in action.
But you are right - the protest should be to treat Islam the same....
