Quote Of The Day

Quote Of The Day

If we do not know how to do contend with this possibility [that Palestinian prisoners swapped to secure Gilad Shalit's release would return to terror upon gaining their freedom] we might as well return our identification cards and find another place to live.
Israel's failure to return Gilad is a matter for investigation.

  1. With all due respect to Noam, it is the failure of Hamas, not Israel. Sacrificing the security of Israel is not a valid bargaining chip. We all strive for the return of Gilad, but this is a selfish statement. The Shalits are not the only family suffering at the hands of Hamas.

  2. Noam Shalit is in danger of turning into a caricature of himself.
Yes, he and his family have suffered a great deal but the government of Israel has to take into consideration what is best for the entire country.
If a terrorist released in a potential swap then goes and slaughters a family in Shomron will Shalit be able to sit at the Shabbos table with his son and say "Well at least you're home safe and sound"?

  3. Noam Shalit should be excused for anything he says. His goal is only to get his son back.
The issue of what would happen if terrorists were released is so debatable that he can easily justify his statements by saying he believes its not a problem.

That being said, despite whatever Noam Shalit says or believes, the governments responsibility is to do what it can but not to compromise Israel's security, and if necessary to ignore Noam Shalit.
