Wash Your Hands Technology

Another really cool Israeli invention is one that will track the hand-washing behavior of medical practitioners.

The invention is a digital bracelet that "connects" to soad dispensers that have sensors embedded within. If the practitioner did not wash his hands in between patients, a tiny red LED on the bracelet will light up to remind him to do so.

Not only will the bracelet remind the practitioner to wash his hands, and perhaps alert the incoming patient if the practitioner has or has not done so, but the bracelet and dispenser combo will also send all that tracked and logged information to hospital management.

Whatever works to improve medical care, even something as simple as a reminder to wash your hands....

I would like to see them make this technology available to households. I am sure there are lots of parents who would love to be able to know if the kids washed ther hands..

  1. There are always ways to work around these types of solutions. Hospitals started monitoring response times for when a patient buzzes the nursing station. So, instead of attending to the patients faster they make sure they turn off the nurse call faster.
