Quote of the Day

the right in general, and specifically the religious parties, do not have a monopoly on Judaism. The Jewish culture belongs to all Israelis, with no difference as to their political worldview.

-- MK Ruth Calderon (Yesh Atid)

I happen to agree. But that doesn't mean every Jew or Israeli who promotes some idiotic idea against Judaism is also defining Jewish culture

  1. I vehemently disagree. The religious parties are guided by Gedolei Yisrael, who are guided by the Torah. The Torah is the sole source for anything about Judaism. Calderon and her ilk claim to know Tanach and Talmud, but are in reality very far away from what Torah and real Judaism is really about.

  2. "All Israelis?" Not all Israelis are Jewish, and not all Jews are Israelis.

  3. Agree 100% with Yaak. Reminder of king Achav who loved to study (learn or whatever) Torah but discarded everything in it and was one of the greatest sinners of the kings of Israel (northern kingdom) along with his wicked non-Jewish wife, Izevel.

  4. Of course, nobody has a monopoly on Judaism. Anyone on the political left, or part of a non-religious party can also observe the 613 Mitzvot if they wish.
