Congratulations PM Netanyahu

Congratulations to PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

We went to sleep with the exit polls basically tied, with the Likud having a slightly better potential of putting together a coalition, and woke up to ta total knockout Likud victory.

The pollsters who were all so dramatically wrong should either all be fired or go relearn their trade, or both. They aren't polling even close to reality.

Funniest comment I've seen so far was from someone on Twitter (sorry, I don't remember who it was), that Obama couldn't prevent Netanyahu from winning in a landslide, he is going to prevent Iran from getting the bomb?

Initial thoughts have me a bit disappointed that Yachad missed the threshold, more that Aleh Yarok missed it, happy that Meretz squeaks in, nonchalant about Yisrael Beytenu making it in.

A miracle happened last night (whether you think it was a good miracle or a bad miracle). That Netanyahu was able to emerge victorious, let alone the total knockout he delivered,  considering the amount of money and energy that was thrown into the campaign to oust him, is simply a miracle.

As I have said before, I think Netanyahu should announce that this will be his last term as Prime Minister. He should announce that he will be retiring in [pick a year - 2018, 2019, whatever], and as part of the electoral reform he has promised us he will include some form of term limits for the Prime Minister position.

  1. I also agree that Netanyahu should start grooming a replacement for the long term. What if Cahlon would have stayed? Me thinks that as number 2, he would have been PM in four years. Only if he folds into the Likud might that be possible, but then, perhaps like what Livni did.
