Rabbi posts video condemning Flatbushgirl

Rabbi Yehuda Levin, who made quite a stir a few years back when he spoke out about alternative lifestyles and homosexuality - and over time on many other topics, is upset that "FlatbusGirl",  Adina Miles, is running for political office as District Seat under the Democrat Party.

Here is a clip made by Rabbi Levin speaking out against Adina Miles..

I admit that I too have been surprised, not with her running for office but that years ago with her antics she was not strongly condemned or anything like that. Perhaps personally within her community she suffered some backlash, as in interviews she says she has, but it seems publicly she has been largely ignored by the establishment. Perhaps it speaks to the strength of the Jewish community in the USA that their leaders do not feel the need to speak out and condemn every person who does not toe the line.

I would point out that the antics Miles is criticized for by Levin are relatively old. She has changed her style in recent years. A few years ago she was making funny and crazy videos of her antics and publishing them everywhere online, but more recently, in the past year or two, she has been showing herself as having matured - videos of chessed, of discussion, of motivation and almost no videos of the antics she used to post. I guess Rabbi Levin does not recognize that people can change and mature and only sees her the way she was a few years ago.

I have no idea if she is worthy of the seat she is running for, and I am not endorsing her for office (as if she needs or wants my endorsement or that it might even help her if I offered it or hurt her if I didn't). She does seem like a thoughtful person and as someone who tries to help others, especially using her platform (that she spent years building) to do so, but more than that I do not know much about her or her capabilities.

  1. Yehuda Levin is a fringe attention seeker. If you are looking for reaction from "leaders" and the "establishment", this is not it.

I live in New York, but I have no idea what "District Seat" means. Do you know?

    1. District Leader. Every party has two -- one male, one female (start bagatz against it) in each district. An entrée for bigger and better things.

  5. Adina Miles is a caring person who really wants to protect the underdog and the disenfranchised. Rabbi Levin is trying desperately to become relevant again after disappearing from the public scene for nearly ten years and he thinks that he found his magic pill to stardom by attacking this frum mother of 2 relentlessly and hasn't been able to declare anything redeeming about her even though there's so much she does to help others in her community. Rabbi Levin readily resorts to name calling and person bashing and makes it very hard to respect him or his methods. He's a fringe Rabbi who seems to be alone in his public condemnation of Adina Miles and instead of realizing that's because she's not a threat, and she's not very different than so many others just like her. The reason Rabbi Levin is alone is because no other Rabbi is trying to gain publicity for themself at the expense of attacking and publicly shaming another jew. I'm saddened greatly by this lack of true Torah leadership and guidance.
