kabbalat kahal by Rav Chaim Kanievsky to restart

Kikar and Haredim10 are announcing that after 7 months of Rav Chaim Kanievsky not receiving the public due to CoronaVirus concerns, he will now do so for the upcoming holidays. To that end, with thousands expected to come visit and get a bracha from him over the coming weeks, his people are installing a special bridge with a transparent divider so people can walk by him but not put him at risk. The bridge will lead to the edge of his sukka on Rashbam St in Bnei Braq.

There will also be special sleeves installed directing the foot traffic along the street to avoid congestion and prevent crowding. There will be ushers to keep remind people to keep distance from each other and to wear masks.

I think that is wonderful that they found a solution to allow people to see and get blessed by Rav Chaim Kanievsky, but I find it interesting that they are restarting this now, at the same time the lockdown is starting and for the duration of the lockdown period...

I hope everyone stays safe.

  1. I'm confused. Will this be open only to people who live within the 500 meters area, or is this davka yet another way to thumb their nose at the goyishe government?
