Proposed Law: short terms dont apply

Hamechadesh is reporting on another personal law being proposed by the coalition.

MK Nissim Vaturi (Likud) is proposing a law that would take away all benefits of a former Prime Minister from anyone who served as Prime Minister for a period of less than 2 years.

The current law says anyone who served as PM gets certain rights and benefits such as burial on Mt Herzl in the PM section, certain pensions, bodyguards, services, etc

Vaturi's proposal would take all that away from anyone who served a short term, meaning specifically Bennett and Lapid. Vaturi explains that the PM position has recently become one used as a point of pressure to serve for even a short time inappropriately just to get the benefits and praise of a former prime minister. This law would prevent that deterioration from continuing.

I personally feel anger and vengeance is a bad look and they should not use laws to rewrite history and to take Lapid and Bennett out of the exclusive group, just because they dont like them or want them in there. Additionally, being a personal law, I dont think it is bad on the face of it but if they should pass it it should only apply moving forward not on people who are already former Prime Ministers of short terms.
