Quote of the Day

Something happened, and I am not sure any deal was actually changed, but something happened in Elad! That has no connection to Rechasim! That has no connection to running this city. And then comes along someone, not one of the gedolei hatorah, and sets the entire country up in flames, lighting aflame Rechasim - there was no need for elections here. We could have had an agreement, an agreement among the parties, among the rabbonim... Why do we need to come here and campaign and do all this work, because someone decided to take revenge against the gedolei hador?? Why are we going to battle in Bet Shemesh? We are going to battle in many cities and places that have no connection to this issue!

-- MK Moshe Gafni (UTJ) at an election rally in Rechasim

1. they prefer no elections at all, in Gafni's own words. Don't even give the residents a choice as to who should administer their cities. Just make a deal among the politicians and the residents need not be involved at all.

2. Let's not forget it was Degel who broke a municipal agreement and then said agreements do not need to be kept. Now they are upset that Shas no longer trusts them and decided to run their own candidates?

3. Just like Gafni has the gedolim he listens to, Deri has the gedolim he listens to. No need to say someone who isnt among the gedolim is taking revenge against the gedolim. Deri isnt among the gedolim, but he has his own gedolim in the Shas Moetzes just like Gafni has his in the Degel Moetzes.

  1. 1. That is how things will be done in a chareidi medina.
    2. The Chareidi medina constitution says parties dont have to keep agreements.
    3. Who is a Gadol? There is a good reason the gedolim banned Making of a gadol.

  2. A Chareidi Israel would be like Iran but without restaurants or supermarkets because no hechsher would be good enough.
