A Dybbuk In Greece

A couple of years ago there was a case of a fellow from Brazil who had supposedly been possessed by a dybbuk. The drama went on for a long time, with Rav Batzri performing the exorcism attempts.

Interestingly enough, another dybbuk case was announced the other day. This time it is a dybbuk possibly possessing the body of a female professor from Salonika, Greece. The professor is not Jewish and only speaks Greek and English, yet, according to the reports, she has been mumbling from her throat in Hebrew.

According to Bechadrei, the woman had recently visited Israel and had heard of Rav Batzri in her research on the subject. Because of her being possessed, she contacted Rav Batzri to ask him to exorcise the dynnuk from her body.

Being that they have not yet actually met, and it is only her claiming to be possessed by a dybbuk with no confirmation yet from Rav Batzri, it is premature to say that Rav Batzri is about to exorcise another dybbuk. Premature as it may be, a good exorcism always makes for interesting news...

  1. Didn't the other story end with a poststript that they "posessed" man said he faked the whole thing? Does that discredit Rav Batzri or just the guy who faked it?

  3. I suppose that those people who exorcize a lot are healthier than the average person in the long run. ;)
