Chazan, seeing the ability every coalition MK has to try to squeeze things out of the Prime Minister, due to the coalition majority being so tight, has already threatened Netanyahu by saying he is not in anyone's pocket and might not necessarily vote with the coalition on any given issue. Now he is giving a more specific threat, demanding a rotation in the Foreign ministry as Deputy Minister. He is willing to Let Tzippi Hotoveli serve as Deputy Foreign minister for half the term and he wants half the term. Or else.
I think Oren Chazan has some retribution coming to him. A little payback. He needs to be taught a lesson. Hotoveli has already served as MK for a few years, she has worked for her position, she has earned it. Who is this Chazan guy to come in and say he wants to be Deputy Foreign Minister, and practically issue an ultimatum?
Spend some time in the trenches, do your work, grease those elbows, show yourself as a stand-up guy and a stand-out politician, and next time you'll be promoted to what you might deserve.

Politics is a snake pit and the king viper rises to the top.
ReplyDeleteClassic negotiation tactic. Aim high, ask for many things, and then be satisfied with getting most. You are right, only #30, but it seems Hazan is here to work hard. I think one reason he can hit the floor running is because he grew up in a political home and learned something along the way, probably spending a lot of time growing up in the Knesset itself.
