Hanegbi came under heavy criticism for this, with many, even from within the Likud, calling for his dismissal - for saying that it was minor and for saying there is a difference between the Gaza area settlements and between Tel Aviv. Netanyahu also criticized his words. Hanegbi has since responded saying that he was misunderstood.

We all know that the government treats the two differently. You just are not allowed to say it outright.
