    I'm not sure why the pikuach nefesh argument didn't work but the chulent incentive might. I am not aware of a mitzvah d'oraita to eat chulent.

      The former appeals to the Yetzer ha Tov. The latter appeals to the Yetzer Ha Ra.

      The latter of which is the more powerful appeal. It has been that way since Adam and Chava ate from the Eitz ha Daas.

      to be fair, it is probably less connected to rational thought and decisions and more connected to creating a party like atmosphere and playing on people's FOMO.
