shark attacks paraglider in Red Sea

I was recently in the Monsey area and while I was hoping to see a bear on Shabbos rummaging through the garbage cans, I only got to actually see a deer eating someone's flowers from their front garden. A couple of days later my relative sent me a video of a bear wandering around the gardens on his street, so I "just" missed it..

this is the posted image
of the moment of attack
but it is too blurry to
actually see the attack

According to the Daily Mail, a Jordanian tourist in Jordan by the Gulf of Aqaba was out paragliding over the Red Sea when a shark jumped out of the water and bit off part of his foot.

That is really cool, though not for him. Refuah shleima to this fellow.

It seems that if it could happen in the Gulf of Aqaba it could happen in Eilat too. While I don't want anyone to get attacked by a shark and hurt, it would be cool to be in Eilat and see a shark break the surface and leap out of the water.

the type of shark is unknown as most of the sharks that wander into that area of the Red Sea do not attack humans and are relatively tame. The Daily Mail seems to surmise that it might have been an Oceanic Whitetip shark, which has in the past attacked people in [other parts of?] the Red Sea.

Be careful out there.

  2. I think you mean bear, not beer (though beer on Friday night is also a cool thing...)
