The curses of a non-mystic

police officers up north charged with arresting and booking the charlatan Ezra Sheinberg have been complaining about his behavior. Sheinberg has been cursing them and threatening them with spiritual anger (not sure how to translate "kpeida").

Some of the police officers are nervous and upset about this, especially the religious ones and the others who "believe".

Personally I would suggest that they have nothing to worry about. He has proven himself to be nothing but a charlatan. He isn't a mystic or a holy man. His curses won't harm anybody.

  1. "He has proven himself to be nothing but a charlatan." really? Do we really have all the information? I'm not going to defend his alleged sexual abuse criminal activity, but what other evidence of being a charlatan do you have?

    1. That's all I need. And it wasn't with one woman he had an inappropriate relationship with . Over ten women have come forward, which probably means there are many more than that, to make statements and claims against him. This was a regular thing, not aa one timeinappropriate relationshi. This is a rav? This is a kabbalist?

  2. Rav Shmuel Eliyahu calmed everyone down and let people know that the curses won't work.

  3. Well if he harms anyone then dust weevils should inhabit his nether parts and his hemorrhoids should flare with brimstone!

  4. Well, Chaza"l told us not to take the blessing, or curse - even of a hedyot - lightly.

Sheinberg certainly qualifies at least as a hedyot. [Interestingly, the example the gemara brings is Avimelech, who "unknowingly" took a married woman for himself]

  5. Even curses of "mystics" and "holy men" have no power either. The last prophet lived almost 2500 years ago.

    1. Who said that only the curses of prophets are effective?

    3. the gemara has plenty of stories about chachamim who cursed people, including gedolim, and said curses worked (to the point of killing people).
