Baruch Dayan HaEmes to Mazal Tov

These names, mazal and Tov, are fairly common Sephardic names and even in this combination, Mazal Tov, they can be found not infrequently...

Still it is a bit ironic and strange to say Baruch Dayan HaEmes in the same breath as saying Mazal Tov. Though family celebrations (kiddush, bris, bar/bat miztvahs, weddings, etc) must have been a hoot!

Anyways, Baruch Dayan HaEmes.

  1. Reading the plaques in our shul's hallway, one will find many a Mazal Tov.
