One of the reasons that Ashkenzim don't like the Sepharadi rabbis is because the Sepharadi rabbis actually give people hard criticism. You'll also notice it between Sephardi friends, they'll tell you directly in your face what they mean and feel, as opposed to us Ashkenazim who hide our feelings and talk nicely even if we do not mean it. Look at the friendly Bayit Yehudi, between dati-leumi people, they'll talk about how much they hate Shas and anything related, but in front of the cameras, we try to be mamlachti. We care about our image more than about the truth (look what happened to Gush Katif - Moetzet Yesha specificaly tried to settle in the hearts rather than fight for Gush Katif).
Why am I defending the Sepharadim? I don't know. Maybe it's because I still so frustrated with they way Bennet is taking the whle dati-leumi sector with him into modifying the main dati-leumi parties (and apparent impotency of the rabbis to do anything except watch from the side) in creating Likud 2.0. I am frustrated because him and his posse are causing thousands of Jewish men to daven before netz and put on talit and tefillin before the zman.

I am also worried by the possibility that this man will become President of the Council of Sages. At the coronation ceremony for the New Rishon LeZion Sephardi Chief Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef, he publicly insulted Rabbi Eli ben Dahan deputy Minister of Religious Affairs (from Bayit Yehudi). What is even worse in my opinion is that all of those present stayed silent, whilst this happened. Like Kamtzah and Bar Kamtzah, not one person including Rabbis present said anything to avoid the public humiliation of this servent of Hashem. Only last year, he was beaten up at the funeral. I pray that the result will not be the same as with Kamtzah Bar Kamtzah. And before anyone else complains about the Bayit Hayehdi, there are so many facets of life here in Israel, that have caused unnecessary friction with the secular population, causing a Hillul Hashem. Anything to lessen the friction, including the extension of summer time until the end of October is to be praised, especially as the above problem occurs again anyway in mid-winter in December during winter time after the clock has been put back. So do me a favour, and don't attack Bayit Yehudi for the kiruv they are doing.

The issue is not with the whole BY, well, maybe it is. Because while we see the Torah being trampled, the assumed Torani members of BY are silent. Only Moti Yogev had the balls to admit this mistakes, the others are silent. Why? Because the seculars are more important. Kiruv is the objective, not Torah. The Mizrachi inferiority complex has led it to be enchanted by the seculars who 'we' strive to impress and want so mush to let us teach them some tidbit or two. Unity with the Haredim, who cares. We want the seculars to like us. (Heck, it's the same in the Likud. Gotten slapped so hard by the left for so long that they continue to choose to align with them instead of the 'natural partners'). I see it in some of the mamads. The dream that seculars will send their kids to the mamads is more important than making the schools more torani for other Dati Leumi's. Kiruv is so important, I do it as well, but I feel that for many, it's lip service. They really don't want all these people to become religious, because we all know what happens to BTs - they don't stop at the parve level, but usually go much further. Having non-religious in the schools is a way to make sure that the schools do not become too religious than they want them to be.
And that brings us back to 'Shas'. The eternal hatred of anything Shas by some Dati Leumi only leads to idiotic statements from the other side, which then lead to idotic statements from the DL side (read the latest about not shedding a tear if Haredi yeshivot become abandonned), and so forth.
