That's the President of Israel, Ruby Rivlin, and his wife, on a train from New York to Washington DC where he will meet with President Barak Obama... not a first class seat on a plane. not a charter flight, not a motorcade.. simple guy...

In keeping with the values of the first generation of Herut and their associates. Look how Messrs. Begin and Shamir lived and traveled, for instance. But I am a little surprised, because times have changed and I would be afraid that the President of Israel is a target. Clearly the US and Israeli security people took precautions.

Deleteside comment: what politician was it that was investigated / indicted for exchanging his and his wife's two first class tix and exchanging them / cashing them in?
I think this is PR BS. I don't want my president traveling on the train as if he has all the time in the world to save some money. If he really was worried about saving money (and less about boasting how much he is a simple person), he would drastically reduce the budget of the president's residence to what it was before Peres increased it.
