boys for electricity

Ynet is reporting that the workers association of the Israel Electric Company has come to a decision, in solidarity with the struggle for bringing back the boys - the bodies of Hadar Goldin and Orin Shaul, and Avera Mengistu (presumably alive) - from Gaza - they will refuse to repair the damaged electrical lines in Gaza.

Some of the electricity cables bringing electricity into Gaza were destroyed by Hamas rocket fire that fell short of Israel and damaged the lines. There are humanitarian calls for Israel to repair the electricity lines. So far Israel has refused, saying they will not fix the lines until rocket fire is ended (or maybe they said until safe access can be guaranteed), but now the workers association says they won't work on the lines until the boys are brought home.

In response the Electric Company announced that as a government company they are obligated to fulfill orders and follow the law, like it or not - and electricity is a necessity and not part of the conflict.

I don't know how much power the workers association actually has to withstand direct orders, should they come, but the sentiment and expressing it now is nice. Assuming they are part of a union, it might even be possible that they can continue to refuse and not be fired, at least for a little while.
