Hamas makes no sense
you can always count on Hamas to break a ceasefire arrangement and give Israel an excuse to fight. You can also count on Israel only responding mildly until they are forced to respond harshly, upsetting people at both ends of that.
this situation is slightly different in that Hamas broke the agreement so quickly it makes you wonder why they gave bac all the hostages so quickly leaving themselves with little to no leverage. Thank God they did, but being prepared to break the deal so fast makes no sense after giving up the living hostages.

ReplyDeleteAlready the anti-government protests have shifted. Now the government not getting the bodies back is inexcusable which means Bibi has to resign and then call elections.
Hamas knows that even if they have one body and they don't want to give it back, the Left will protest against Bibi.
And if you think that's harsh, keep in mind what these anti-government protests are trying to accomplish. They aren't pressuring Hamas. They're supporting Hamas by blaming Israel for the lack of hostage body returns even though - wait for it - Israel doesn't have the bodies, Hamas does. Hamas knows this and encourages it.
Yeah. Hamas had nothing to gain from the attack. It seems pretty likely that it’s true that it was a rogue force that committed the attack and Israel is using it as an excuse to accomplish additional military goals.
ReplyDeleteHere's what people forget - the job description for Hamas members is "Destroy Israel." That's it. Not "govern Gaza" or "protect the so-called Palestinian people." So what else would these guys do? They can't disband. They can't disarm. It goes against the job description.
