6. Daat Torah brings Rav Moshe Sternbuch's opinion on the rioting in Jerusalem. He is openly against it. He says he does not speak out because the people rioting don't listen to him. He should still speak out, I think, because they are rioting in the name of the Eida, and he should be saying the Eida does not support it.

  1. Rabbi Shternbuch should resign.

If nobody really listens to him as he claims, what the hockey puck is he doing as the RA'VAD of the Edah?

  4. Daat torah says that the Eda rabbonim other than R. Shternbuch are OK with the protests.
    Is this reasonable?
Do you still trust the hechsher of Badatz eda hacharedis on your food?

  5. anon - don't worry - all foods with Eda hechsher have rabbanut as well.

so you can be sure that someone is checking on the Eda and you are not relying on those ganovim!

  7. garfield, yes I knew that and honestly it does make me feel more comfortable, but I am still not sure whether the rabbanut supervision is sufficient to rely on in all cases.
Also, the rabbanut sometimes relies on the private hechsher's mashgiach and just asks that he keep at least to their standards and do a very occasional spot check. I personally know of one such case.
