Haredi Mechina Kedam Tzvai opening

A new "Mechina Kedam Tzva'i" is opening up. This one is unique in that it is specifically for the Haredi community.

I think this is a great idea. 17 and 18 year old boys who know they are not going to make it in yeshiva can spend a year preparing for the army, in a frum environment, with yeshiva studies in tandem with physical and mental prep for the army.

They don't mention who, but they say they are supported by many rabbonim.

The only problem I see with it is the last line in the ad gives an indication as to who is running it. I suspect that because of that, many who would otherwise embrace it, might not. It might become a mechina specifically for Chabad boys. That, too, would be good, but not the same as one for the general haredi community.

I see this as a positive development that will help integrate haredi boys to the army, and then to society, while keeping them in the frum environment they require to make that transition.

  1. It does indeed look like a Chabad program, which leads me to believe it probably has no rabbinical backing outside of Chabad. The concept is a good one; what we need is someone to have the courage to convince the Rabbanim for such a need in the yeshiva world.

    Excellent program and idea.

    I await the pashkevillim.

  3. As Shalom said, it looks like it's By Chabad for Chabad.
Given that many Chabadnikim already go ino the army with the encouragement of Chabbad Rabbonim, doesn't look like this program will have any effect on Charedi participation in the army.

I would imagine that many Charedim would consider a Messianic-Chabad Beit Midrash more spiritually harmful than the army itself.

Shame, it would be great if there were programs like this, endorsed by mainstream Charedi Rabbonim, to encourage Charedim to join the army in a suitable framework.

You're 100% correct. Guess what? Even mainstream chabad would consider them dangerous!

Obviously there are no rabbanim then some chabdskers.
Be vigilant! Don't get snookered by these charlatans.

  5. "the last line in the ad gives an indication as to who is running it"

It's clear who is behind it, even before the last line. Let me point out a few other indicators.

    1) Right in the beginning it says it is for 'temimim'. 'Temimim' is a word for bochurim that is specifically used by Lubavitchers, and not others. So that tips you off right away.

    2) Top left illustration of bochur in fedora is another tip-off, since a) bochur is wearing a fedora, the Lubavitcher hat, and b) under the illustration appear the words chayalei beis dovid, which is roshei teivos Chabad.

    3) The term ana"sh appears in it, another piece of Hassidic/Lubavitcher terminology.

    4) Another tip off is that it says it is a 'mechinah tzevais Chassidis'. What Chassidus? Obviously Lubavitch, the most likely/only candidate for such a thing.

    "I await the pashkevillim."

Wouldn't hold my breath, since the messianics bifrat and Lubavitch bichlal are already kept at a distance by those who would be opposing. Paskevilim are usually when they feel there is a threat. Those that are already sort of cut-off/ostracized by them, wouldn't be so threatening with this davka as they already are set apart due to messianic and other issues.

  6. snag - thanks. I didnt know most of what you wrote. The only one I comment on is the "anash" - that is used regularly in much of the frum community - both litvishe and hassidic.

No, mainstream chabad agrees with it. A small minority considers it dangerous.

    1. Oh c'mon anonymous, you know that any "mainstream chabad" disagrees with the messianic chabad, unfortunately they are a reflection of the good, amazing, and decent chabad movement!

    Interesting...

...especially as the mechinoth are traditionally headed by mamlachti (undying state loyalist rabbis). there are also several hiloni mechinoth prgrams.

Will this just be another research lab to see what will work on haredi kids to indoctrinate them into State-loyalty?

Or will it backfire, and allow haredim an in to have some positive, Torah influence in the IDF?

This will be interesting to follow.

    P. S. Anyone know what happened to Aish HaTorah's Hesder Yeshiva status??
